FRENCH MX1 AND WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP IN LACAPELLE MARIVAL (Final round)

Sébastien Pourcel
claimed this weekend in Lacapelle Marival his fifth French national title, all of them conquered with Kawasaki. Second of this final round of the Elite MX1 championship, he renew his title in this class while Livia Lancelot dominate the French Women round on the same track.

Coming to Lacapelle Marival with a significant advantage over his rivals, Sébastien didn’t wait the last race of the day to secure his title. The first race was pretty easy for him, even if he was carefull at the start and came only fourth in the first corners. It took him three laps to pass Aranda and Coulon, and then five more circulations to join and pass Aubin who was leading the race. Seb posted the fastest lap, and won pretty easily this opening race. His second start was similar, and Seb just passed Aubin and Aranda for the second place when he collided with Aranda, felt and destroyed his clutch. He lost so much time to restart his bike that he droped to seventeenth in the third lap, and then earned lap after lap some positions to finally secure the fourth position. It was better than what he needed to be crowned before the ‘super final’ heat. Battling with Aubin for the leadership, Seb crashed early and lost ten seconds over his rival; he was coming back right behind him in the last five minutes, but did another mistake and then just secured another second place behind Aubin, runner up in the standings.
Leader of the Women World Championship, Livia Lancelot entered in Lacapelle the fourth round of the French Trophy. She had no rivals on his soil, and after Plomion, Villars sous Ecot and Epinal she collected three more wins in Lacapelle where she got three holeshots aboard her 250 Kawasaki.

Sébastien Pourcel: ‘I’m of course happy to get another French title, it’s important for me, the team, Kawasaki, the sponsors and my parents. I came here with a good gap over Aubin and that was important, as every year I have some troubles here. On saturday a marshall didn’t put the yellow flag during the free practice session and I landed heavily on a bike in the middle of the track, I was not seriously injured but I had pain. Today I wasn’t really hapy with my races, as in two of them I crashed and lost two wins. Once more I lost my front wheel in a corner, we need to work strongly with the team to solve this problem’

Livia Lancelot: ‘It was pretty difficult for me to get again a good feeling with the track, as since two months now I train only on sandy tracks. The goal was to keep the leadership of the series, I just did one fast lap in qualifying and then secured three holeshot to win my races. I’ve another event in France before Lierop, and during these events I ride carefully as I want to be in great shape for the final round of the World Championship’

Roger Pourcel: ‘It’s always great to get a title, and I’m happy that this year again we offer another French title to Kawasaki. We have a great relationship since more or less twenty years with Kawasaki, and next year we’ll continue to defend their colours in the French championship. We hope that Livia will also get a title, she has no real opponents in the Women trophy but it’s a good training for her to race on the same tracks as the men’
